Do you add water to a crock pot or can you cook in one without using water?

Depending on what your cooking, if its got soup or any sort of liquid its not nesaccary, but if your cooking a roast of anything like that, add like a cup of water or so. I use my crockpot(slow cooker) just about every day, i love it..
